Hmmm RPG is "role playing game" right? You make a character and you play a role. Where does it say that you need to kill stuff over and over to be an RPG?

And GW IS about building your character. It has some of most strategic options for building a character, I don't see how "working" affects the character building at all.

And finally for the love of God, stop bringing up that tired old cliched argument of comparing this to a CounterStrike or Half Life. You're not making a point just mindlessly repeating what others have said.

It's amazing that you needed a patch to open your eyes to a truth that has been sitting there in front of you since the game's conception.

Well once again I'll say it, Grinding does not equal skill. Removing grinding isn't making the game any easier than it already was.

There are a multitude of newb-friendly MMORPGs which reward you heavily for Time Spent Playing. If that's the kind of "hand me victory" gameplay you want, you're playing the wrong game with Guild Wars. Personally I find standard MMORPGs entirely hollow because you're playing this gargantuan progress bar of doom and your skill really has very little impact on whether you're successful or not. If I wanted that type of gameplay, I would play Progress Quest (www.progressquest.com) which is a wonderful mockery of classic MMORPGs.

As for the Villany Quest? XP is easy as heck to get. If a quest doesn't reward me skills, I don't bother. I have a new Ranger running through PVE right now which is in the Lion's Arch area and I kinda doubt I'll do the quest - I'd much rather just rush to Ascend, and possibly do the quest after ascending to help with earning Skill Points. (well, technically I'm not "rushing" to Ascend compared to the hardcore guys who rush to ascend at level 3, but I am plowing right through all the missions and only nailing a few sidequests to net free skills.)

Here's how I see this entire patch. I like a game that I can just sit down to on a rainy day and play for 2-3 hours to pass time, and Guild Wars WAS that game with a great blend of pvp, pve, and marketing. However, with this new patch I have lost the pve enjoyment, as you cannot farm, you cannot level higher, you can only get mad at losing hard missions with incompetent co-players. The market is ruined; runes had become the trading commodity similar to Stones of Jordans in Diablo 2, but with the rune trader there is no money to be earned skillfully through buying low and selling high, as the trader will fluxuate prices at random based off how many runes are bought. This just leaves pvp, which I must admit is amazing. However, I and many others cannot just sit down and pvp with unorganized teams for multiple hours without getting annoyed or bored. In essence, Guild Wars has become another Counterstrike for me, which also I can only play for around 1 hour. I only need one Counterstrike and 1 rollplaying game, and frankly I'll take Counterstrike and replace guildwars with something else.

They are appeasing those who whine about actually having to PLAY the game to get good stuff or have a good character. If you want to play a game where you don't have to invest any time or effort into getting a good character - go play Unreal Tournament.
hey dickhead, 4000exp is very welcome when youre level 20 and need the exp for the skill points.

also, I wasted 20 minutes of my life to get Battle Rage off of the troll boss in Snake Dance. Its a relief now I can take skills like this (and ones you dont see, like the other stances) without wasting my time.

After spamming in trade channel and almost every other channel.

Player A: Hi there.
Player B: Yo, I got a Ranger Major Rune of Marksmanship for sale. You want to buy it?
Player C: If you can just buy runes off of other players, or Rune traders, what's the point of finding them yourselves.
Player A: Shut up, Player C. Do I have to find every rune I want to use by myself?? What is wrong with trading with other players? Besides, this Rune Trader, is not like NPC merchants. There are no unlimited Runes you can buy all you want. PLayers sell to the Trader, then trader has stock. Other players buy from the rune trader, no more in stock.

How is this so much different from trading with other players minus the spams made by idiots in every channel just to sell something??
Dont forget, buying from Traders does not unlock the rune for PvP option characters. In other words, to unlock runes, you basically still have to find the items to identify it to unlock them. It just makes it easier to trade, for those who couldnt care **** about unlocking anything for PvP mode characters.

Without all the trade spam, we can finally use Lion's Arch for what it was created for; take a piss in it after getting hammered on "exotic dwarf beer"

Looks like a lot of people want victories on a silver platter after a long monotonous grind. Thanfully, this patch is shifting it towards having to earn your wins. You might have to take on your opponents WITHOUT AN UNFIAR ADVANTAGE!!1! OH NOES!!1! If everyone is maxed out, they can balance the PvP and PvE for maxed out characteres, which will make wins actually mean something. Winning because you have a full set of runes, items and skills when the mobs are balanced for someone with basic equipment proves nothing. Did doing the first level of Doom with a BFG9000 feel fulfilling to you?

villany is worth 4k
its easily the hardest and longest quest in the game...hard just cause of the length of it from its origin

This patch really is a big step forward. I'm very happy about it.
About the complainers:

- Infusion runs: In the patch description it is clearly stated that whereas now all worn armor is infused in a single run, the infusion is slightly less effective, preserving the difficulty. So, if anything, this has made the missions more difficult, and only has made the grind less.
- Capture of skills: The challenge remains the same: to kill the boss monster (as it should be). No more artificially keeping alive of the boss, no more repeatedely zoning in and out, etc. This is a good thing.
- Rune traders: That's why in real life we have a stock exchange, so that you don't have to go through the time-consuming process of dealing with individual buyers and sellers. Again this is a good thing.
- Villainy quest: You receive this quest when you first arrive in Lion's Arch. If you try to do it at that time, it really is by far the most difficult and longest quest in the game, so the 4000XP is entirely justified.

All this patch has done is removing the tediousness of certain parts of the game, but in no way has this reduced the difficulty. Great work by ANet!

same reason people were upset over the ruling on player run gambeling, its a lost way to make tons of money, in some cases conning people into buying them for far more then they were worth.

Whats sad is when I put up a post in the sanatarium for an NPC gambler shortly after that ruling and gave people a chance to voice a way to work it out they ignored it.

If people were truely upset about this change they'd be over in the sanitarium right now posting possibilities for a fix instead of heatedly arguing the same points over and over in and endless power struggle.

But they aren't truly upset; most (of them) just like to complain

I think you can buy them off any skills dude after the patch, because before I remember only being able to buy them at Quarrel Falls for some weird reason

Also, I think you can get them from a quest at Lion's Arch that I never did

It is a skill (not an item), and as far as I know there are zero requirements to possess it. You put it in your skill bar and capture a skill of some dead boss
